Pubdate:2013-07-22

“In Dehong, there are not many chimneys but a lot of trees, not much noise but a lot of laughter. As a paradise for sightseeing and living, Dehong will make efforts to make itself more vigorous, more affluent, more harmonious and happier.”, said Gong Jingzheng, governor of Dehong, at the “Beautiful Yunnan· Charming Dehong” press conference.

In recent years, people’s government of Dehong attaches great importance to the protection of ecology, sticks to the industrial development of ecological protection, ecological development of industries as well as the strategy of “development based on ecology”, makes great efforts to save energy and reduce emissions, and strengthen the prevention as well as controlling of pollution, which has made the urban and rural environments improved to a further degree. Statistics shows that the total stock of water resources in Dehong has reached 21.8 billion cubic meter and the per capita has reached 18 thousand cubic meter which is 3.7 times higher than the average level in Yunnan and 3.9 times higher than the national average level.

According to the requirements of China central government, Dehong adheres to the principle of “paying equal attention to development and protection”, puts more emphasis on environmental protection and ecological development, endeavors to set up a prevention and control system aiming at preventing industrial pollution and treating town sewage, focuses on the environmental protection around key reservoirs, and supports the development of low carbon economy as well as recycling economy. All these efforts are being paid to make more than 95% of water resources in Dehong achieve the standard level, forest coverage reach 68% in 2015, and Dehong itself then become a treasure house of diversified living creatures and a defense for ecological safety around southwest China.

Being people-oriented and trying to build Dehong as a landscape garden city are critical for Dehong to better itself. For urban development, Dehong will put more emphasis on ethnic culture, ecology, and modernization, trying its best to set up a mountainous city characterized by comfortable living environment and ever-last flowers. It is hoped that up to 2015, the per capita green area in Dehong will achieve 8 sq.m and green coverage will reach 30%.
