Full of joy and fun, the traditional wedding ceremony of Jingpo people is held in bridegroom's home with boisterous sounds of crackers. The wedding is presided over by Dongsa and the most important part of it is for bride to "cross the grass bridge". After offering sacrifices to ancestors, the bride, led by her brother-in-law or sister-in-law, walks through a bridge made of a new log and decorated with couch grass. This done, she accepts presents from her parents-in-law, usually the "Munao Pearl" or silver chaplet. Then, the grand banquet starts: Dongsa expressing benediction to the new pair, the aged people recalling their wonderful past, and the youths singing and dancing till dawn. Although nowadays' wedding ceremony changes a lot from the traditional one, the rite of "crossing the grass bridge" Remains an important part.(Source: the Publicity Department of Longchuan County Committee).
