On January 11th, the 5th Session of the 13th People’s Congress of Dehong Autonomous Prefecture commences in the City Hall of Mangshi. Deputies from all regions in Dehong gather together in this solem occasion, representing the needs and calls of local people and exploring the path of social and economic development for Dehong.

 

The meeting is hosted by Yu Mayue, the executive chairman of the presidium and the presiding chairman of the conference. The meeting is attended by 260 representatives.Members of the presidium are seated behind the podium.

 

Gong Jingzheng, the deputy governor of Dehong Prefecture delivers the Government Work Report to the conference.

 

The report gives a conclusion on the work of the prefectural government in 2011. With the collective efforts of the entire prefecture, Dehong has achieved many major accomplishments including the smooth progress in the construction of the Golden Port, the Ruili National Key Economic Pilot Zone and the reconstruciton of Yiangjiang quake-affected areas. The targeted goals for 2011 have all been attained under the guidance of the prefectural party committee. With the social wealth and stabilty been greatly enhanced, the year of 2011 emerges as an conducive begining of the 12th Five-Year Plan for Dehong Prefecture.

The report points out 10 priorities in the government’s works in 2012 to reach the goals in social and economic growth: scientifically pushing forward the construction of the Golden Port and the Ruili National Key Economic Pilot Zone with the support of favorable policies; boosting the fix-asset investment by focusing on the major construction projects; accelarating the growth of agriculture and development of suburban areas; speeding up the growth of real economy with the orientation of the optimization of industrial structure; increasing the velocity of urbanization on the base of cultivating the mountain areas; reinforcing the post-quake reconstruction of Yingjiang; enhancing the livelihood of local people; revitalizing the prefecture through cultures of ethinc minorities; deepening the reform and strengthening the social vitality in terms of economy; consolidating the social stability by improving the social administrative system.

2012 is the last year of the 13th Prefectural People’s Government. In his address, Mr. Gong calls for all the representatives to gain experiences from the previous four years of government work and continue to devote themselves in capacity construction of the government in this brand new year.
