On March 26, the evaluation meeting of Strategic Planning of China-Myanmar Cooperative Demonstration Area for Modern Agriculture was held in Mangshi Hall by the administrative committee of Ruili Pilot Zone. 25 experts at provincial, prefecture and county level attended the meeting.
During the evaluation meeting, Jian Guanghua, a researcher on the development of cities and towns, elaborated on the background, fundamental conditions, development target, function, general designing and operation model of the planning. Also he proposed that the cooperative demonstration area should be built as an agricultural cooperation platform open to southwest of China, the lemon center in Asia, and an important base for specialty agriculture.
Because of its foresight, necessity and viability, the planning was approved unanimously by experts present at the meeting who believed that as an important part of the construction of Ruili Pilot Zone, strengthening agricultural cooperation with Myanmar is in accordance with our country’s national opening strategy, the requirements of gateway development, and Myanmar government’s desire to improve people’s livelihood.
Meanwhile, experts also suggested that the planning should be further refined and improved; efforts should be made to reach and sign agreements with Myanmar; expert groups from both sides should be set up to deal with relevant problems; and requests concerning listing the demonstration area as a key national project should also made to the National Development and Reform Commission.
