On December 26, 2017, The 16th China-Myanmar Border Trade Fair opened in Ruili. The fair is co-hosted by Yunnan Provincial Department of Commerce, Dehong Prefectural Government and Trade Department of the Federal Ministry of Commerce, Myanmar. Initiated in 2001, fifteen sessions of trade fair have been held, vigorously promoting bilateral trade between the two countries. There are 480 booths at the fair, among which 326 are from China, 54 from Myanmar, and 100 from other countries and regions.
Wei Gang, deputy secretary of CCPC Dehong Committee, also acting governor of Dehong, presided over the opening ceremony .

Gao Shuxun, party member of Yunnan Provincial Government maintained, “With expanding influence, the trade fair has become a regional grand meeting for products exhibition, negotiation, investment, cooperation and cultural exchange. The fair has played an important role in boosting bilateral ties, improving people’s life and promoting cooperation. ”

In his speech, Wu Angtu, the vice minister of Myanmar Commerce Department expressed his hope that enterprises and people in the border areas tap more business opportunities and establish broader cooperation.

Wang Junqiang, the secretary of CPC Dehong Committee, also the secretary of the Ruili National Key Pilot Zone for Development and Opening –up, proposed that China and Myanmar make joint efforts to promote bilateral exchange and cooperation.

The trade fair will not only provide access to bilateral cooperation in trade , tourism, agriculture and biological medicine, but will also fully demonstrate Dehong’s role as a bridge in economic corridor.
