On the afternoon of March 1, a grand "green feast" is held in Dehong Sports Center, celebrating the Jingpo People's Munao Zongge Festival. The feast attracts about 4200 guests from home and abroad.
Jingpo ethnic group boasts of a splendid diet culture. "Green feast" is one aspect of the culture. Originating from the ancient tradition of dieting habit, it is the most traditional and ecological feast. Almost everything is green. The tables are covered with big banana leaves. Usual tableware such as plates, bowls, chopsticks, spoons is complete absent. People wear disposable gloves to eat the delicacies which are wrapped in different kinds of leaves.
Every dinner is served with a small pack of delicacies wrapped in leaves. In the pack there are such typical Jingpo food as sliced dried beef, chicken salad, Chongcai (mashed food), egg salad and vegetable salad. Homemade wine is served in cups made of bamboo. The delicacies and wine win great appraise from the guests.
